FYI: Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Offering Free Rides on New Year’s Eve

Note: In light of New Year’s Eve’s status for increased drunk driving and car accidents, The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has extended an offer of FREE rides this coming New Year’s Eve (Monday night)…

The free rides will start at 8PM on 12/31/18 and end at 5AM on 1/1/19. Check this link for more detail, namely on Light Rail and Express Line 181 schedules: New Year’s Schedule.

This free ride service comes just in advance of a 2019 VTA fare increase, marking the 2nd of 2 phases. As of 1/1/19, a single ride on light rail and local bus routes will cost $1.25 for youth (ages 5 to 18) and $2.50 for adults. Single rides on express buses will cost $5 even. More detailed info can be found here: VTA blog.

Have a Safe & Happy New Year! Don’t drink and drive.
