Main Street Holiday Magic event happening in Milpitas from December 4-19

Milpitas’ Main Street will be transformed for a special Holiday Magic event in December.

From December 4-19, between Weller Lane and Carlo Street, there will be a stage, a movie screen, food vendors, entertainers, activities, and even a synthetic ice rink.

The ice rink, which will be installed and operated by Ice America, will be open to the public during the event, and even for group reservations, along with introductory skating classes during the week, from 1pm-4pm.

Skating will cost $10 per person. There’s also a $2 skate rental fee. People are also free to bring their own ice skates to avoid the rental. Discounts are offered for groups of 10 or more during the weekday special hours ($2 off per person).

An inflatable movie screen will be set up behind the parking garage at the Milpitas Library. The schedule is as follows: The Grinch (12/7), Santa Buddies (12/8), The Santa Clause (12/10), White Christmas (12/13), Shrek the Halls (12/14), and Polar Express (12/15). All movies will start at 6:30 p.m. and are free for the public to enjoy.

On weekdays, there will even be various themed nights for the community to take part in:

Monday, December 6: Stocking Stuffer Savings Night

Stockings filled with discount coupons from local merchants will be given to the first 300 people who arrive.

Tuesday, December 7: Ugly Sweater Party

Guests can wear holiday sweaters and also meet the Grinch!

Wednesday, December 8: Santa Paws Night

Pet owners can bring their leashed pets for a costume contest and parade.

Thursday, December 9: Glow-bal Holidays Night

Friday, December 10: Mistletoe Magic Date Night

This one’s for the adults. The theme is: Date Night! And parents can sign their children, ages 5-12, up for childcare, which is provided by the Recreation staff at the Milpitas Sports Center.

Monday, December 13: Silver Bells Nostalgia Night

Come enjoy 1950s Milpitas, featuring classic cars and vintage music.

Tuesday, December 14: Characters on Ice Night

Children can come and take photos with cartoon and movie characters. Costumes are encouraged for all!

Wednesday, December 15: Tons of Toys Night

Featured “toys” from the Milpitas Fire Department, Milpitas Police Department, and Milpitas Public Works will be on display.

Thursday, December 16: Christmas Carol-oke Night

Come out and sing karaoke, and win prizes!

Friday, December 17: Reindeer Games Teen Night

People can come out and play videogames on the big screen together; there will also be some other teen-friendly activities.

There’s no admission cost to enter the event area.

Come also to check out new public art murals, holiday decorations, and performances from local Milpitas residents; take part in activities; and even get a chance to visit with the man himself — Santa Claus!

Event hours: Saturdays, 1-10 p.m.; Sundays, noon-9 p.m.; Mondays-Thursdays, 4-9 p.m.; and Fridays, 4-10 p.m.

  1. Thanks Milpitas Beat. Looks like a fun new event. If no food vendors are available at event, any recommendations for food places near by?

    • There are also going to be food vendors at the event! We will update the article to include that as well. Thank you for the question!
