The autopsy for Samuel James Cassidy (57), the VTA employee who murdered nine coworkers and then fatally shot himself in San Jose last week, has been completed by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner.

In an unusual development, Cassidy was cited in the report as having had “multiple gunshot wounds of the head.”

Although his suicide, as previously reported, was confirmed, it appears that Cassidy’s first shot to his head was not fatal.

A press release from Santa Clara County described the finding as “rare.”
