As pickleball continues to take the nation by storm, Milpitas residents can look forward to The Picklr – the fastest-growing pickleball franchise in North America – coming to our town.
The club is set to open in May 2026, and will come complete with 16 courts, 2 of which will be championship-sized, along with a pro shop and a space for hosting private events.
The site’s address will be 128 Ranch Dr., making it part of Milpitas’s popular McCarthy Ranch Plaza. Picklr members will be able to enjoy open play, league play, and tournaments while also undergoing top-level pickleball training.
Notably, membership at one Picklr site means access to every other site in America, and at present 500 new locations and 5,000 new courts are in the company’s plans.
In a press release, Picklr co-owner Tonny To said, “Bringing The Picklr to Milpitas is more than just opening another facility, it’s about creating a true home for pickleball in the Bay Area. As longtime members of this community, my partners and I have seen firsthand how difficult it can be to find dedicated pickleball courts.”
To also stated, “People are often left playing on converted tennis or badminton courts, which leads to frustration for both pickleball players and others using shared spaces. The noise, the overcrowding, the lack of dedicated space, it’s all made it tough to build a strong, connected pickleball community here. That’s why we’re proud to bring The Picklr’s best-in-class indoor pickleball experience to Milpitas.”
Currently in Milpitas, the public locations offering pickleball courts have all been adapted from preexisting facilities: Gill Park’s two handball courts were re-striped and refitted; Hall Memorial’s six pickleball courts were carved out of former tennis courts; and at the Milpitas Sports Center, the gym is configured for indoor pickleball during a few specific time windows.
Meanwhile, over the past several years, as pickleball’s popularity has grown, the City of Milpitas has looked for ways to accommodate its players. At times, there has been some friction between tennis players and pickleball players at Hall Memorial Park. The Picklr’s opening will provide residents with more opportunities to engage in the sport.
