On September 25, 2024, the world became a bit darker when Lynn Anne Marozeck, born on April 8, 1958, passed on to heaven after a long, exhausting illness.
Preceded in death by her mother, Faye Marozeck, and three older siblings, Mark, Michelle, and John Marozeck, Lynn left behind her long-time, devoted partner Robert Wims, nephew Jason Fontes, niece Toshia Hylton (Larry), and great nieces Cierra and Hannah Hylton. Lynn, aka Lynnie, adored Toshia and her two daughters, serving in a capacity far greater than aunt, but rather more like a mother/grandmother. Lynn beamed with pride sharing news with friends and colleagues of Cierra and Hannah’s academic and athletic accomplishments.
After years spent in the corporate world, Lynn returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English as well as a teaching credential from San José State University. From 1989 to 2020, Lynn dedicated her life to teaching English at Milpitas High School. For more than three decades, thousands of students’ hearts, minds, and souls were touched by Lynn’s warmth, kindness, intelligence, and candid sense of humor. Students frequently sought out Ms. Marozeck for emotional support; her genuine concern for their well-being was truly palpable. The decision to retire was not made easily. Teaching was her life, and she cherished her students dearly.
Lynn also garnered respect, admiration, and appreciation from her colleagues and administrators. At faculty meetings, Lynn’s unabashed questions and comments would often have the audience in uproarious laughter.
Lynn was a social magnet. She created close bonds with friends dating back to elementary school and maintained those connections throughout her entire life. Several fellow teachers, affectionately known as “Gal Pals,” were also blessed to have decades-long relationships with Lynn which were maintained to Lynn’s final days. At social events, Lynn was the one to welcome outsiders and cross social barriers.
In addition to her love of family, students and friends, Lynn was a staunch Democrat, supporting liberal causes, freedoms, and democracy. On a lighter note, Lynn was a 49er Faithful from her early years to the end of her life. Reading was a genuine passion as well.
Her partner Robert was a stalwart companion, providing emotional and physical support to Lynn in order to make her life as comfortable as possible, especially in her final weeks.
The world is no longer the same for those who knew and loved Lynn Marozeck. Her light now belongs to the afterworld as she lives pain-free for eternity. Don’t be surprised, however, if you feel Lynn’s cheeky presence in an unexpected moment in your life. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
