The City of Milpitas is launching a new special event called Retro Milpitas…

The idea is to offer residents a dose of nostalgia, so they can experience the Milpitas of the 1970s through the 2000s. To that end, the roller rink and water slides will be reopened, paying homage to beloved local businesses Splashdown and CalSkate.

Retro Milpitas will happen over the course of a single weekend: August 4th and 5th, from 10am to 10pm on both days, at the Milpitas Sports Center (1325 E. Calaveras Blvd). Entry is free, though those wishing to roller skate or use the inflatable water slides will require tickets.

A City press release on Retro Milpitas included a two-act live concert schedule:

  • Billy Martini – 1970s-1980s classic hits – Friday, August 4 – 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Other People’s Money – 1990s-2000s classic hits – Saturday, August 5 – 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Event attendees can also enjoy bounce houses, order food and drinks from food trucks, and listen to DJ’d music.

Skate sessions and activity area tickets can be purchased starting July 19: https://cityofmilpitas.simpletix.com/
