Milpitas resident dies in stabbing incident; family starts Go Fund Me campaign

Yesterday, on October 8, Milpitas resident Roberto Meza Gonzalez tragically lost his life in a stabbing that occurred on North Temple Drive’s 100 block.

The Milpitas Police Department received a call regarding the incident, and when officers arrived there at 3:30pm, they attempted to save Gonzalez’s life. Shortly thereafter, he was brought to a nearby hospital, where his injuries proved fatal.

Less than an hour after the initial call, at 4:06pm, MPD officers found and apprehended the attacker, Jonathan Castellanos Herrera, a 22-year-old Milpitas resident, near North Hillview Drive and Del Vaile Court. Info offered by other citizens had allowed for Herrera’s rapid capture.

The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on Homicide charges. He was also charged with Battery, for assaulting an Emergency Medical Technician.

A Go Fund Me campaign has been started to support Gonzalez’s family with funeral/memorial expenses, as well as living expenses.
