Earlier today, June 21, at just before 1pm, the Milpitas Police Department (MPD) received a report of an incident on North Temple Drive’s 130 block…

Somebody in an apartment there had been stabbed.

Upon the cops’ arrival, an armed man, age 19, emerged from a nearby courtyard wielding a knife. The police told him to drop his weapon and surrender.

The man charged, though, blade in hand. One officer drew his firearm and fired in self-defense. The man went down with a gunshot wound.

The attacker was then rushed to the hospital, where he soon died.

“Anytime deadly force is used, it is something we take extremely seriously. Our thoughts are with the man’s family during this time,” MPD personnel wrote in a press release.

The 19-year-old’s stabbing victim was another man, age 34. He, too, was hospitalized, though he later got released and sent back home.

Officers continue to investigate the initial occurrence.
