On Friday, January 26, 2024, Milpitas will turn 70 years old.
It was 1954 when Milpitas was established, making this year its platinum anniversary.
Said the City in a statement, “The platinum anniversary not only commemorates a significant milestone in the City’s history but also reflects its resilience, growth, and commitment to providing an exceptional quality of life for its residents.”
At last night’s Council meeting, Mayor Carmen Montano and Vice Mayor Evelyn Chua invited the community to come out and celebrate Milpitas’ big milestone.
“As your mayor, I take pride in reflecting on the journey we’ve had together. Seventy years ago, the founders envisioned a community based on unity, resilience, and progress,” said Mayor Montano. “Looking back we see those dreams realized. Thanks to the hard work of many, Milpitas has evolved into a vibrant community.”
On Thursday, January 25, at the City Hall Rotunda, there will be an open house celebration hosted by the City from 3:30pm to 7pm. Residents and visitors can show up to hear music spanning the last 70 years while enjoying refreshments. In partnership with the Milpitas Historical Society, the City will also be presenting historical photo displays.
