Milpitas Chamber of Commerce presents awards & swears in new Board of Directors

On Friday, October 21, at the Sonesta Silicon Valley Event Center, The Milpitas Chamber of Commerce presented its 2022 Awards Banquet, the first event of its kind since before the pandemic…

Milpitas Citizen of the Year 2021 was awarded to Jennifer Cullenbine. Police Officer of the Year 2020 was given to Kevin Jackson. Chamber Ambassador of the Year 2021 went to Francisco J. Hernandez Jr.

Bayview Golf Club took home Corporate Citizen of the Year 2021. Fire-Fighter of the Year 2021 went to Dave Hendrickson aka Hendo. Gino Lepe was awarded Police Officer of the Year 2021. Hope for the Unhoused took home Non-Profit of the Year 2021. And Business Person of the Year 2021 went to Rhoda Shapiro, the founder of The Milpitas Beat. 

In a statement, Chamber President Warren Wettenstein wrote, “Having served past 2 1/2+ years as Chamber President and received honor of Business Person of the Year 2019, I was pleased to have the Chamber present current Awards to the Community. This year we have around 200 attendees and, from the feedback we got, everyone was super impressed by the event.”

A new Chamber Board of Directors was also sworn in during the event, with Larry Ciardella, Francisco Hernandez, Anu Nakka, Warren Wettenstein, and Kelly Yip-Chuan beginning fresh 3-year terms; John Agg, Frank Cancilla, Juliette Gomez, Inderjit Mundra, and Victor San Vicente in for new 2-year terms; and Chris Horton and Suraj Viswanathan starting off 1-year terms.

He lives in Northern California with his wife, Rhoda, and their two sons.
