Knights of Columbus Award Student with Calaveras Hills Community Scholarship

At this month’s Calaveras Hills Graduation Ceremony, student Elizabeth Diaz was awarded with a Calaveras Hills Community Scholarship in the amount of $1250.00.

The Knights of Columbus St. Elizabeth Council #8747 gifted the scholarship, which was presented by Grand Knight Gwan Alisantosa.

“We hope what we did here inspires others to be donors next time around,” said Alisantosa. “And second, hopefully the success story of the student inspires other students to follow her lead as a role model.”

Diaz, who is a young mom, and has also struggled with homelessness, joined Cal Hills as a senior in 2018. She is planning to attend community college, and is still trying to determine what career path she’d like to take. Diaz’s own mother, Rebecca Castro, was also part of a graduation ceremony, receiving her diploma from the Adult Education Program on the very same day.
