Assemblymember Kansen Chu (D – Milpitas), in partnership California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, and Cal Fire Chief – Santa Clara Unit, Jake Hess will host a virtual town hall on insurance resources for small businesses, homeowners, and renters during the COVID-19 emergency and upcoming fire season on Friday, August 14, 2020.
COVID-19 has caused devastating financial hardships and heightened the need for proper insurance coverage. Whether it is a pandemic causing loss of business, a fire causing major destruction or other emergencies, being underinsured could put families and businesses in much deeper financial trouble. Two-thirds of people who lose their homes or possessions in an accident or emergency find themselves underinsured. At this town hall you will learn about available discounts on insurance premiums, assistance with filing claims, and the insurance coverage you need for wildfires and other emergencies such as COVID-19. There will also be information and practical tips on what everyone can do to stay safe during the fire season.
