February 2, 2019 @ 9:00 am
Sunnyhills United Methodist Church

You are cordially invited to help usher in the 2019 Black History Month with a celebration. My name is Demetress Morris and as head of Flame Keepers’, as well as the Milpitas Black Caucus in Silicon Valley it is our honor to kick this month off with a crucial conversion regarding the past, present, and future. As, we recognize the students, teachers, and community members for their accomplishments this season. The two agencies support by other community organizations are designed to work within the community and schools on behalf of students’ and families of color, by providing support that sanctions diversity throughout Silicon Valley. The efforts made by Flame Keepers allow for collaboration, support, and unity within the community.

The theme this year is “The Bridge to Freedom” with a focus on cultural relevance and the impact it has on tomorrow’s generation. The presentation concerning this topic will be presented by me, Demetress Morris. The keynote speaker will be Lonnie Morris founder of the Good Citizen Program and College Preparatory Program in both California and Pennsylvania. Most importantly, Mr. Morris is a thirty-two-year supervisor of probation (retired), who also chaired the Calfornia Parole Board in Marin County for many years.

With the support and collaboration of everyone helping to marshal in Black History Month, it will be a great success and memorable event. There is no cost associated with the event, but all donations are welcome! Come one come all – that means you! Please feel free to email or call with any questions or concerns at Demetress1@aol.com or (408) 935-8074.
